Crofting Commissioners limit their travel

16/03/2020

Crofting Commissioners will limit their travel to Inverness this week by telephoning  into their Board Meeting that will be held on Thursday 19 March 2020.  At this point in time the meeting will still be open for members of the public to attend, but those Commissioners who live in more remote areas will take part in the meeting via a telephone link.  This decision has been taken to limit the possibility of any contact and possible transfer of illness that may occur, albeit that the risk is low at present.

Rod Mackenzie, Crofting Commission Convener, said, “most of our Commissioners live in remote areas and we consider it prudent that where possible the Commission should limit travel to ensure the risk of transferring any infection is kept to a minimum. This is a time of year in the crofting calendar where most crofters self-isolate anyway with lambing and calving imminent and most of us would like to keep the exposure to infection at a minimum.”
