Applications invited for Crofting Commission Jobs in the Western Isles

01/12/2020

In July this year we announced that additional funding provided by Fergus Ewing, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy and Tourism, would allow us to establish four permanent new posts in the Western Isles.  We are therefore pleased to say that today the first of these posts have been advertised on our behalf by the Scottish Government.

The posts we are looking to fill first are for two Crofting Development Officers, one based in Stornoway and one in Balivanich.  The two remaining posts will be advertised shortly, one of which will be to work with our Duties team and one post within our Corporate Services team. Candidates applying for the Corporate Services post will be expected to be fluent in Gaelic.

All these jobs will be permanent appointments, and both full-time and part-time applicants are welcome.

Although the advert headings are labelled ‘Stornoway’, the appointments will be split between Balivanich and Stornoway, and applicants should indicate their choice of location.  The office location will be within the SGRPID offices in Stornoway and Balivanich, although initially the successful candidates will be asked to work from home.

These posts will be an integral part of the Crofting Commission together with their colleagues in Inverness, but their presence in the islands will enable us to develop new and better ways of working with these communities.

Application forms and full job descriptions can be found at Scottish Government (work-for-scotland.org)
