CROFTING COMMISSION ANNOUNCES FORTHCOMING RECRUITMENT OF NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Chief Executive of the Crofting Commission, Bill Barron, has today, Wednesday 8th of February 2023, announced his intention to step down as CEO in September 2023.
Commenting today Malcolm Matheson, Convener of the Crofting Commission said:
“Bill Barron has made a considerable positive contribution to the Crofting Commission over his time in leadership and is leaving the Commission in a far stronger position. We would like to thank Bill for the hard work and dedication that he has shown in the role, and whilst we are sorry to see Bill moving on, we look forward to the new opportunities which will arise.”
“We will continue our work on improving and strengthening the Crofting Commission and further building on the progress of the last six years.”
Speaking today Bill said:
“It has been a great honour to serve as the Chief Executive of the Crofting Commission, however, after six years, I have decided to announce my intention to step down from this role in September 2023.
I will work with colleagues and the board of Commissioners to ensure that the transition from my leadership to the next will be as smooth as possible. It will always be the priority of the Crofting Commission to ensure that we are providing a reliable and meaningful service to Crofters, which I do not wish to compromise during this phase of change.
I am thankful to all who offered support, guidance and scrutiny to me during my time as Chief Executive. Whilst I will miss my friends and colleagues very much, it’s time for me to embark on a new chapter in my life. “
