Crofting Commission Asks Crofters to Check and Update Register of Crofts DetailsĀ

06/10/2025

The Crofting Commission is today urging all crofters to check that their personal and croft details on the Register of Crofts are up to date. This proactive measure is crucial to ensure a smooth process for the upcoming 2025 Annual Notice distribution.

The 2025 Annual Notice will be sent out in early January, and it is a mandatory requirement for all crofters who receive a letter to complete and return it. By encouraging crofters to review their details now, the Crofting Commission aims to ensure that all letters are sent to the correct addresses, preventing delays and issues with compliance.

The process is straightforward and can be completed online. Crofters should visit the Register of Crofts at https://www.crofting.scotland.gov.uk/register-of-crofts to search for and verify their information. If the details are correct, no further action is needed. If any information is out of date, crofters should use the quick and easy online application process to submit a change of details.

Andrew Thin, Chair of the Crofting Commission, commented: "We are asking crofters to take a few moments to check their details on the Register of Crofts. Accurate information is essential for us to effectively communicate with everyone and to ensure the smooth running of the Annual Notice process. By working together to keep the Register accurate, we can make the upcoming return period as efficient as possible for the entire crofting community."

The Crofting Commission is also engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to ask them to share this important message with their networks.
