COMMISSION BOARD APPROVES ACTION TO ACCELERATE THE PROCESSING OF CASEWORK WITHIN CROFTING COMMISSION

The Board of the Crofting Commission confirmed a range of measures being implemented around the way certain cases are handled in order to improve efficiency and turnaround times for regulatory applications. These changes will be implemented throughout the month of September and more information will be available on each measure as they are enacted via the Crofting Commission website. The measures are:

  • A change to the parameters for decision-making for some application types.
  • A reduction in requests for RPID reports in certain cases.
  • Where Crofters or their agents submit an incomplete application they will be contacted and given 28 days to rectify any issues or the application will be closed.
  • Introduction of a more efficient process for dealing with any objections to an application.

Speaking today, Tuesday 29th August 2023, Malcolm Mathieson Convener of the Crofting Commission said:

“I’m delighted that we are seeing improvements in turnaround times for many applications, but it is important to the board that we continue to secure further improvements. The board wants an efficient and proportionate system within the requirements of legislation and these changes are the latest in a series of ongoing changes designed to drive improvements to our service to Crofters. Crofters and other applicants should expect to see further improvements in the coming months.”
