Our policy on subletting and short term lets has changed

17/08/2020

Important Information

Our policy on subletting and short term lets by non-resident crofters has changed and as a result the Commission will normally restrict applications from non-resident crofters to five years or less, unless there are exceptional circumstances which would justify a longer period.

Any application to sublet or short term let of a croft for a period of longer than 5 years by a non-resident crofter will no longer be treated as a straightforward application and will be escalated to Tier 2.

Check out  https://www.crofting.scotland.gov.uk/forms-and-guidance for more information on our Delegated Decision Making process and the criteria required to meet a straightforward application which can be approved by Casework Officers.  In normal circumstances a straightforward application can be concluded in approximately 6 weeks.
