Crofting Commission Area Representatives’ Appointments 2023

10/07/2023

Historically, the Crofting Commission Assessors played an important role between the Commission and local crofting since 1955. During this time the role has changed significantly, and so the working title of the role has been changed to ‘Crofting Commission Area Representatives’ (CCAR), to better reflect its function.

On 1st June 2023, the Commission appointed 19 Crofting Commission Area Representatives on a 3-year term. The appointed Crofting Commission Area Representatives have experience of active crofting, good knowledge of crofting and its associated issues, and live in the crofting counties. It is intended that they will provide a valuable link between the Commission and the crofting communities, sharing information locally, and signposting crofters to the Commission’s and other services.
