FOI Request: 109630

Received: 19 March 2021

Division: Serving Crofting

Status: Completed

Request for information regarding any croft tenancies/ property/land within 15mile radius of Gairloch

Decision: Partial Release 31 March 2021

The Commission does not hold information on the availability of crofts in any specific area. While we can confirm the number of vacant crofts within a specific area, in this case there are 31 “vacant” crofts within the Gairloch Parish, we are unable to provide an itemised list of these. The number of crofts that are vacant legally under Section 23(10) of the Crofters (Scotland) Act 1993, is not the same as vacant physically i.e. empty. As many crofts that are legally vacant, the owner lives on and uses the croft, but because the owner is not an "owner-occupier crofter" in terms of the legislation, the croft is classified legally as vacant. You may wish to consider contacting crofting estates in the Gairloch area and/or estate agents.
